City stroll into Champions League final with stunning semi-final victory over Real Madrid
Guardiola's side complete 5-1 aggregate triumph with another masterful display at the Etihad
Bernardo Silva's double and strikes from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez seal a famous win
Manchester City secured a place in the Champions League final with a breath-taking victory over current holders Real Madrid on Wednesday night. Pep Guardiola's side completed an incredible 4-0 win on the night, and 5-1 on aggregate, to reach the showpiece event in Istanbul later this month.
Bernardo Silva gave City an early lead with a stunning strike from outside the box, and the Portuguese midfielder doubled the advantage just before half-time with a clinical finish. Manuel Akanji added a third in the second half with a powerful header, and Julian Alvarez completed the rout with a late strike.
Real Madrid were simply outclassed by a rampant City side, who were in complete control of the game from start to finish. The Spanish giants failed to register a single shot on target, and were lucky to escape with a 4-0 defeat.
City will now face either Liverpool or Villarreal in the final, which will be played at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on June 10th.
