Cole Palmer was the hero as Chelsea took a giant step towards the Premier League title with a 4-0 victory over Everton on Monday night. The England Under-21 international scored all four goals for the Blues, who are now just one point away from securing their first league crown in five years.
Palmer opened the scoring in the 15th minute, latching onto a through ball from Mason Mount and slotting home past Jordan Pickford. He doubled Chelsea's lead just before half-time, heading in from a Hakim Ziyech cross.
The 20-year-old completed his hat-trick in the 55th minute, firing home a low drive from the edge of the box. He then added his fourth in the 70th minute, tapping in from close range after a cross from Reece James.
The victory was Chelsea's 29th of the season, and they now need just one point from their remaining two games to be crowned champions.
Palmer's performance was hailed by Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who said: "He was outstanding tonight. He showed his quality, his composure, and his finishing ability. He's a very special player."
Palmer himself was delighted with his contribution, saying: "It's an amazing feeling to score four goals in a Premier League game. I'm so happy for the team and for the fans. We're so close to winning the title now, and we're going to give everything we have to get over the line."
Chelsea will be crowned Premier League champions if they avoid defeat in their next game, against Manchester City on Saturday.
